Form and history of Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol 2
Over the past ten years, two of the most successful fighters in the light-heavyweight class—and possibly the entire sport—have been Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.
The two men, who are both well regarded in terms of weight, have fought in 45 bouts together, winning 44 of them and losing one.
Naturally, that one loss occurred during their initial encounter in October, when Beterbiev gave Bivol his first professional loss by majority decision.
At the same time, Bivol became the first fighter to go the full distance against Beterbiev, who had previously won all of his bouts by stoppage or knockout.
What was the outcome of the first bout between Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev?
One of 2024’s first fights was between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol, who both entered the match hoping to become undisputed at light-heavyweight.
The bout went the full distance, with Bivol taking a sizable lead in the opening exchanges until the two engaged in back-and-forth fighting in the middle of the Riyadh fight.
However, Beterbiev’s impressive finish—two judges gave him scores of 115-113 and 116-112, while the third judge gave him a 114-114 draw—was probably what gave him the advantage.
However, post-fight statistics confirmed the widespread annoyance that Bivol was the winner, as the latter landed 33.6% of his punches compared to his opponent’s 20.1%.
